Darrow School

120 students, Grades 9 - PG,
Co-educational, Boarding and Day,
Student/Faculty ratio is 4:1.

Darrow School offers an exciting college-preparatory curriculum, supplemented by nontraditional learning, within a structured, supportive, yet informal environment. While retaining rigorous academics, the School's strong hands-on approach to learning creates opportunities for its students to thrive and reach their full potential. Through both in- and out-of-classroom activities, the students are able to put lessons into practice and become actively engaged in their education process. Classes are small, often only 8-10 students in each, and attentive faculty form strong connections with the students, offering support and guidance that goes beyond the classroom to one-on-one tutorial sessions, service-learning projects, leadership opportunities, residential life, and athletic activities.
Our campus is located in the Berkshires on Route 20, at the NY-MA state line at the site of historic Mt. Lebanon Shaker Village, and we take pride in our unique "Sense of Place." The Samson Environmental Center, Darrow's innovative wastewater treatment plant, and the Joline Art Center, a superbly equipped, 12,000sq.ft. facility for the visual arts, have been notable additions to the campus in recent years as they have further enhanced Darrow's curricular offerings and reinforced the School's comprehensive commitment to environmental sustainability.
For the past two years, Darrow has opened with a full enrollment of 121 students in grades 9- PG who bring a diversity of nationality, race, ethnicity, and religious traditions from 21 states and nine foreign countries. Filling a niche―to serve a small but select group of bright students who possess high potential―Darrow has transformed many students who were often lost in public or larger private schools into motivated, thriving, college-bound learners
